Safety Tech

CLOTHING

If you are going to train silks, hoop or rope make sure that your skin is covered, coton material is the best for silks and rope, for hoop it can be variable but any material than covers your skin and let you slide is a good option.

MATS

I recommend to put a mat under your apparatus even if your are just doing conditioning. There are different king of mats.

If you are working on conditioning near the floor I recommend a landing mat of at least 5 cm thickness.

Made from multi-layered foam providing improved load distribution and optimum stabilization when landing. 20 CM thickness minimum.

Landing mat, , ights further than 4m:  I recomend a thick mat covered, and made out of soft foam or air mat of at least 60 CM.

GRIP & PRODUCTS

To feel safe on the air the strength on your grip is the key. Sometimes there are factors out of your control that make your grip slippery and dangerous. Some EXAMPLES are sweat, costums made out of lycra or other syntetics fabrics, humidity, dryness…
Check out some products that help in different situations.

ROSIN

Little stones or powder. Crash it and sprinkle wherever you need grip. Works in silks, rope, chain, and hoop. Mix with alcohol for a liquid consistancy.

MAGNESIUM

Magnesium is used to avoid sweat on metal surfaces or in contact with other skins.

TUFF SKIN

Comercial Spray, used tu secure tape, made to be in contact with your skin. SHAKE FIRST, use a fine layer to improve your grip.

TAPE

Tape is used for hoop and trapeze, to cover metal pieces, avoid slippery surfaces and protect your skin. Use at least 2mm thickness tape.

RIGGING

Before you hang your apparatus it is important to have some basic knoledge about rigging, the elements that we are going to use, materials and behaviors. You can find any of this elements in a climbing store.

IMPORTANT: Make sure that your material is certified and never buy second hand rigging equipment, It can have damage inside and look new from outside.

Materials

CARABINER

There are may types of carabiners. This carabiner has 3 states pulling, rotating and opening, very secure. You can find it in steel and aluminium.

QUICK LINK

The quick link is an element mainly made in steel, that makes a conexion in between rigging elements

SWIVEL

A swivel is made normaly of aluminium, it alows the rotation of your apparatus.

EIGHT

The eight is used mainly to hang silks, you can find steel or aluminium.

SLING OR STRAP

A sling is a piece made in polyester. It is the element that will be attached to the structure from where we hang.

EIGHT

The eight is used mainly to hang silks, you can find steel or aluminium.

TRIANGLE OR PLATE

The plate or triangle is used to divide the rigging point in multiples ones. Made in aluminium or steel

PULLEY

You can find single or multiples pulley. The more pulleys are rigged the lighter the weight on the point become.

How to rigg your apparatus

STRAPS

For an independent rotation of both straps you will need 3 swivels, 3 quick links (or carabiners), one triangle or plate, and one carabiner. If you are not going to use the straps independently you can make it simple just with a triangle or plate, one link, one swivel and one carabiner.

SILKS

For a simple rigging you need, an eight and a carabiner, if you need rotation you will use an eight, two carabiners and a swivel.

ROPE

For a simple rigging you just need a carabiner wide enought to set your rope ring inside, if you need rotation you will need a wise carabiner a swivel and a standard acarabiner

HOOP

For a central point hoop you need three carabiners, a swivel and a rope or a sling. If you have a double point hoop you will need four carabiners, a swivel and a rope or a sling.
